Federal funding for Georgia’s childcare stabilization program - STABLE 4WARD- ends this month. During the height of COVID, Congress approved money to help stabilize childcare across the nation. The Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning received two billion dollars- they used half of it for STABLE 4WARD.
There are nearly 400,000 children in foster care across the country, and communities in the CSRA are seeing it too. According to the Department of Social Services, out of the 9,764 people in McCormick County, 32.6% of children are living in areas of concentrated poverty. But thanks to a new partnership with the non-profit group Lily Pad, they’re making a difference.
