RICHMOND COUNTY, Ga. (WJBF) – The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting involving three victims.
According to the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, the incident happened on East Taylor Street.
Deputies say when they arrived on the scene, three victims were located: two adults and one child.
“I haven’t seen anything like this. This is bad,” said Jannie Lawrence, a neighbor.
One of the shooting victims, a 29-year-old woman, is deceased. She has been identified by the Richmond County Coroner’s Office as Shaneikwa Lafavor, a resident who lived along the 200 block of East Taylor Street.
Shaneikwa’s father and stepmother have started a GoFundMe account to help with funeral expenses and to offer a reward to help find the shooter.
The coroner’s office was not able to confirm whether she lived at the home where she was found shot. Neighbors tell NewsChannel 6 Lafavor was pregnant, but the coroner said he cannot confirm that information without an autopsy.
Shaneikwa’s father says her and the baby, who was to be named Gorgeous, will be buried together.
The adult male was transported to the hospital in critical condition, and the 11-year-old child was transported to the hospital for treatment.
Authorities state the condition of the child is unknown at this time.
Lawrence told us, “I just heard shooting. (And what did you do?) Stayed in my house in there. My daughter, she’s mentally challenged and she was frightened because of the pow pow pow pow pow. That’s what she heard.”
There is no information being released by Richmond County Sheriff’s Office on whether any suspects have been arrested in this case. However, one person could be seen on video being arrested Monday. It is not clear if that person is connected to the crime.
People in Oak Pointe said the community is a good one despite the crime. However, NewsChannel 6 reported a double murder on nearby Hale Street in February of 2021. The case of Hilton and Jeannette Turner remains unsolved.
