BURKE COUNTY, Ga. (WJBF) – At approximately 4:32 a.m. Monday, the Burke County Sheriff’s Office responded to an armed robbery report at Taylor Brothers Express on Hwy. 25 north.
Responding deputies spotted a potential suspect vehicle based on information provided by the store clerk.
According to Sheriff Alfonzo Williams Facebook page, the suspect entered the store, sought the clerk at gunpoint, and took her from the kitchen to the cash register while demanding money.
The suspect, identified as 24-year old James Douglas Drayton of Spartanburg, S.C., made off with an undisclosed amount of money and fled in a white colored Nissan on Hwy 25.
Deputies (BCSO), assisted by Officers (WPD) spotted the suspect vehicle and a chase ensued.

The suspect wrecked the car and fled on foot.
He was apprehended after a lengthy foot chase and while jumping a fence.
The incident was caught on video and the evidence, to include the firearm and cash are recovered. No one was physically hurt during the incident.
The perpetrator is charged with Armed Robbery, Kidnapping, Possession of a Firearm during the Commission of a Crime, DUI, Fleeing and Eluding, and other traffic violations.
