The nine Silver Bluff seniors on the Bulldogs basketball team went out with a win their final time playing in their home gym. Now, they’ll get a chance to play for a spot in the South Carolina 2A state championship.

Silver Bluff beat Southside Christian, 56 – 41 in the quarterfinals. The Bulldogs led by just three points at halftime, but only allowed the Sabres to score three points in the third quarter, propelling them to the eventual lopsided win.

Bulldogs head coach Robbie McKenzie reflected on what it means for his seniors to go out with a win on their home floor.

“Oh man, that means the world, a lot of them were saying that ‘coach it’s my last time here, can we get one more last run on the court?’ No I need you guys healthy, we had it and I left the last seniors in there at the end. They know there is bigger things coming and we will get the opportunity in Greenville on Friday,” said McKenzie

“My first time going to Greenville, since, this is my first time, I lost my sophomore year and junior year in the second round and this is great, first time,” added senior Jadakiss Wright.

Silver Bluff will play Andrew Jackson on Friday in Greenville at the Bon Secours Arena at 5:30 pm.

In other action, North Augusta falls to Darlington 68-83 in the 4A quarterfinals. And Strom Thurmond falls to Manning 50-55.
