He ran for over 2,000 yards and had 35 touchdowns during his high school football career, and now, Aquinas High School senior Joseph Douglas is ready to play at the next level.
Douglas signed a scholarship Tuesday afternoon to play D-I FCS football at The Citadel in Charleston.
While Douglas recorded over 300 tackles as a linebacker at Aquinas, he’s going to play college football — like his brothers before him — as a running back.
“My brothers, John and Brendan, they both played and seeing them be successful in they do this makes me want to strive to be like them and to be my own person but also follow in their footsteps,” Joseph Douglas said.
As for The Citadel, he likens its culture to what he’s experienced at Aquinas.
“It’s very similar to Aquinas in that they have a great tradition and a special way of doing things,” Douglas said. “They work as a unit and I love the discipline and I’m looking forward to it even though I know it’s going to be a long road.”
