The Augusta men’s golf team hosts its 40th annual 3M Invitational at Forest Hills Golf Club this weekend.
With three freshman and a sophomore in their lineup this season, the Jags haven’t scored as well as they’ve wanted, but believe they are finally starting to play their best golf heading into this weekend.
“The guys have been working hard, and we’re close to breaking through,” Augusta head coach, Jack O’Keefe, said. “We’d love to do it this week. We just need all five guys to click at the same time. I think we’re about to break through, and we’re getting ready for the time of year where we want to play well.”
“We come here to win,” senior, Broc Everett, said. “We’re coming here to play our best and have the results speak for themselves. We’ve got the team to do it, and I think we’re trending in the right direction, so we’re here to play to win.”
This year’s field features three teams ranked in the top 25 in the nation, including No. 13 Illinois. The tournament tees off Saturday with a 36-hole shotgun start at 8:30 a.m.
