Burke County senior, Qua’Neshia Hamilton is this weeks winner of the WJBF Scholar Athlete award. Qua’Neshia is a three sport athlete in basketball, track and captain of the volleyball team, all while maintaining a 3.94 gpa. Ranked No.6 in her senior class, Hamilton wants to study biology with hopes of becoming a physical therapist.
“That’s what I try to do I make sure I do my school work and then sports come next what drives me to become a better athlete is I have a bunch of the younger girls and younger athletes that look up to me,” said Hamilton, “I want them to be the best that they can be so I got to show them the way”.
Hamilton says her journey to success from the court to the classroom hasn’t been easy, but believes with strength of her family and strong faith helps her work harder.
“Very proud of her and my other granddaughter Quindasia I’m very proud of them because those girls succeed in things that I couldn’t play sports,” said Susan McBribe, grandmother.
