Briarwood Academy’s Lawson Sheppard is one of the most well-rounded scholar-athletes in the CSRA.
Sheppard is an All-Region football and track star. He’s led the Bucs to several region championships in both sports, as well as a pair of state titles in track and field.
He’s also one of the top students in his class. Sheppard has earned the President’s Award for academic excellence three consecutive years.
“My parents are probably my biggest motivators,” Sheppard said. “They support me through everything. They tell me, ‘whatever you decide to do we’re behind you, and we’ll support you.’ Also, my coaches. They see I try in the classroom and on the field.”
“Words can’t express how proud I am of him on and off the field,” Briarwood Academy head football coach, Bo Fleming, said. “He’s like a son to me. He’s been a role model for my kids, and I couldn’t ask for a better kid to coach.”
Sheppard hopes to attend either Georgia Tech or Samford where he plans to study law.
