Augusta, Ga. (WJBF) — Our final Scholar Athlete of the school year ended his high school football career in record-breaking fashion. Briarwood Academy’s Dakota Reese ran for 2,445 yard his senior season — setting a new school record.
Reese dominated our Football Friday Night shows last fall, giving us plenty of highlights to showcase. Reese scored 31 touchdowns and averaged over 200 rushing yards per game. In addition to football, he plays basketball, track and golf for Briarwood.
“He’s a once in a lifetime-type player,” Briarwood football coach, Bo Flemming said. “All his accolades, he’s earned it all with his work off the field. And if there’s anybody I knew that could get us a yard, it was 22.”
“I’m a competitor,” Reese said. “I don’t really want to be mediocre at anything. And as much as I don’t really like school or coming to school, I’m going to do my best at it either way.”
Reese will continue racking up the rushing yards in college; he’s committed to play running back at Berry College in Rome, Georgia.
