Wood Spring Suites shooting ruled murder-suicide after shooter dies


AUGUSTA, Ga. (WJBF) – The Richmond County Coroner’s Office released the name of the victim who was shot at the Wood Spring Suites on May 31.

33-year-old Nancy Sigrit Thompson of North Myrtle Beach was pronounced dead at 11:07 pm.

Her husband, 35-year-old Andrew Thompson, died Wednesday at Augusta University Medical Center at 12:15 am from a self inflicted gunshot wound.

He was transported from Wood Springs Suites on Riverwatch Parkway May 31, 2021 after shooting Nancy Thompson and then shooting himself.

The Richmond County Coroner’s Office is investigating a shooting death that took place at the Wood Spring Suites on Sunday, May 30th.

Wood Spring Suites is located on the 2900 block of Riverwatch Parkway in Augusta.

The female victim was shot one time and was pronounced dead on the scene at 11:07 p.m.

The victim will have an autopsy done at the GBI Lab.

Identification will be released once the notification to next of kin has been made.
