PHILADELPHIA (AP) – Police acting on a tip entered a Philadelphia self-storage facility and found the dismembered remains of a woman missing for 16 years, and her ex-boyfriend has been arrested.

The Philadelphia district attorney’s office says 49-year-old Jade Gillette Babcock was arraigned Wednesday on charges including abuse of a corpse and tampering with evidence in the death of his ex-girlfriend, Brenda Jacobs.

The district attorney’s office says Babcock is expected to be charged with murder in Lycoming County, where the woman went missing.

Police found the legless body of Jacobs on Monday after receiving a tip from the suspect’s current girlfriend. She had been missing since 2003 from Montoursville, about 180 miles northwest of Philadelphia.

The Philadelphia Inquirer reports Anthony Voci, of the Philadelphia district attorney’s office, says Babcock confessed after his arrest.

His attorney isn’t listed.
