Two armed teen arrested on Aiken High School campus

AIKEN, S.C. (WJBF) – Aiken Public Safety has arrested two suspects in connection to a disturbance at Aiken High School.

17-year-old Eugene Simmons III has been charged with Disturbing Schools, Trespassing and failure to Comply with an Officer.

Desmond Bates, 17, has been charged with Disturbing Schools.

Officers says on Monday afternoon, Bates and Simmons were involved in a dispute with a student at Aiken High.

The dispute happened in the front parking lot of the school.

Several witnesses reported the incident to the School Resource Officer.

Simmons took off on foot towards Rutland Dr. when he was approached by the SRO.

He was later located and taken into custody.

Officers are still searching for the weapons, they believe were discarded by Simmons.

AIKEN, S.C. (WJBF) – One person is in custody after allegedly being found on campus at Aiken High School with a gun.

According to the Aiken Department of Public Safety, the suspect was NOT a student and was arrested by the School Resource Officer.

The incident happened around 1:40 Monday Afternoon.
