Trump ‘Star of David’ tweet controversy

NEW YORK (CNN) – Donald Trump and his advisers are defending the presumptive Republican nominee after one of his tweets came under fire over the weekend.

Today, Trump tweeted “dishonest media is trying their absolute best to depict a star in a tweet as the Star of David rather than a sheriff’s star, or plain star!”

On Saturday, a tweet from Trumps account that was posted and deleted featured a picture of Hillary Clinton on a backdrop of money next to a six-sided star that read “most corrupt candidate ever!”

It drew controversy immediately, some saying it resembled the Star of David. One of Trump’s advisor’s said Monday that Trump is not anti-semitic and not all six-pointed stars are the Stars of David.
