Pickens County, SC (WBTW) – A 16-year old girl from Florida died from injuries she received at a Young Life camp in Pickens County Monday afternoon.

The camp is located in both North Carolina and South Carolina. Most of the camp is in North Carolina off Glady Ford Road in Brevard.
The sheriff’s office reports deputies were called to the scene around 4:20 pm. Monday. Grimes was participating in an event called “Freebird” with other teenagers. She was seated in a large pendulum swing – along with two other people – when she fell.
Deputies say the camp offers a week-long program that provides team building activities for teenagers.
The coroner’s officer originally reported the death happened while the victim was on a zip line before the Pickens County Sheriff’s Office issued a correction. The coroner’s office also corrected the name of the victim from an earlier news release.
