NORTH AUGUSTA, SOUTH CAROLINA – Hundreds of local golfers tee’d off for a charity that gives back to first responders.
Support 1 created a golf tournament fundraiser 5 years ago after recognizing there was a needs for first responders to seek stress management after suffering difficult experiences out in the field.
Last year the organization raised nearly $20,000 dollars that was put back into the C.S.R.A. to provide specialized classes for emergency workers.
“When they have that mental trauma that goes along with being a part of an incident like that it can actually turn into physical issues as well. So we want to make sure that we teach them to do that and how to deal with that in a healthy fashion,” Michael Ford, Co-Founder of Support 1, told WJBF News Channel 6.
Support 1 holds 2 yearly fundraisers, the next one is a corn hole tournament in the fall during the Jack-O-Lantern Jubilee.
