A Sumter woman has been arrested after she poured water over a nine-month-old baby, according to the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.

Thirty-three-year-old Caitlin Alyse Hardy is now charged with cruelty to children, according to an arrest warrant.

The charge comes after deputies saw the woman pour water over the baby while she was sleeping in a video she posted to Facebook.

Hardy stated in the video the punishment was “Payback for waking me up all kinda times of da night.”

The infant then woke up coughing after being poured with water a second time.

The Office has also notified the Sumter County Department of Social Services.
