COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) – A sheriff in South Carolina says a former deputy has been arrested for having sexual contact with a 17-year-old high school student.
Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott said 40-year-old Jamel Bradley was charged Wednesday with third-degree criminal sexual conduct.
Lott says the alleged sex act happened in Bradley’s patrol car while he was in uniform. The sheriff says it didn’t happen at Spring Valley High School, where Bradley worked and the victim was a student.
Lott says he is disgusted with Bradley, adding “I’d like to kill you, but I can’t do that.”
Bradley’s bond hearing is Thursday. Court records didn’t list a lawyer. Lott says Bradley was fired last month for tampering with an internal investigation.
Bradley played basketball at the University of South Carolina from 1998 to 2002.
