Early Sunday morning, Officers with the North Charleston Police Department responded to the 1900 block of Jacksonville Road in reference to shots fired.
Public Information Officer Spencer Pryor stated that before 1 a.m., officers arrived and located a female victim on the scene with a gunshot wound to the hip and buttock area. The victim advised that a male suspect pulled out a weapon from a Black Tahoe and began firing at other unknown victims. She stated that everyone began to scatter and leave the party when she was struck.
The victim was transported to Trident Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, Pryor added. Officers learned that six other people were transported to MUSC and Trident Hospital in personal vehicles after being struck by gunfire at the same location. We’re told that none of the injuries were life-threatening.
Pryor stated that investigators are working to identify the suspects involved in the shooting, who may be among the injured.
The incident remains under investigation.
