PROSPERITY, S.C. (WJBF) — Saluda County investigators are trying to figure out what led to a woman’s death on Lake Murray Tuesday.
According to Chief Deputy Chris Cockrell with the Saluda County Sheriff’s Office, they received a call of an unoccupied boat on the lake. He says witnesses were able to board the boat and dock the unoccupied pontoon boat in the area of Atlas Drive in Saluda County.
After further investigation by Saluda County, Newberry County, and the Department of Natural Resources the husband identified the boat and the identity of the missing person as his wife, Mrs. Cynthia Leagan, 46. Her body was found in the lake roughly a mile and a half from her home in Gold Nugget Point.
An autopsy has been scheduled for Wednesday.
