Record number turnout for Hong Kong elections


HONG KONG (WJBF) — A record number of voters have turned out for Hong Kong’s district council elections it’s being framed as a referendum on pro-democracy protests which have plagued the country for almost six months.

Officials say more than a million people, 24% of the registered total, have cast their votes in the first four hours since the polling stations opened Sunday morning.
