JEFFERSON AND EMANUEL COUNTIES, Ga (WJBF) – The East Central Health District and Emanuel County Health Department are urging testing in the wake of a positive case of COVID-19 being traced back to the Wadley City Gymnasium located in adjacent Jefferson County.

Anyone who visited the Wadley City Gymnasium during between June 16th and 18th is encouraged to get free COVID-19 testing in Swainsboro at the Emanuel County Health Department, which is being held Friday, June 25, 2020.

At least one person who visited the gymnasium has tested positive for the Coronavirus. Officials with the East Central Health District say there is good evidence to believe that there is potential crossover contamination between the two counties tied to the initial transmission of the virus at the Wadley gym.

In order to make an appointment for testing, the Department of Health recommends calling (706) 721-5800.

The testing Friday will be at the Emanuel County Department of Health in Swainsboro at 50 HWY 56 North from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
