Part of I-20 westbound closed after trailer fire

UPDATE: (WJBF) – Crews are still on the scene cleaning up after a tractor-trailer carrying diesel fuel caught on fire.

It happened on I-20 early Friday morning.

The Columbia County Sherriff’s Office says that the fire broke out at after 2:30 a.m. near exit 195 westbound.

The fire started in the back of the truck and was quickly contained.

No injuries have been reported, but I-20 westbound remains closed near the exit.

According to the Georgia Department of Transportation East, lanes are expected to be cleared by 6 a.m.
