Corine Brown was aware she had some leaves to rake up on Neptune Drive…but not about Neco.
“No I wasn’t I wasn’t aware of that at all,” said Corine.
For the last forty years John Bounds has cut grass at his Neptune Drive home.
“I think I’m the first person who moved to this neighborhood,” John said.
So he should be our go to guy.
“If anybody should know?” I asked.
“I should know,” said John.
So John, what about Neco?
“Never. That’s the first time I’ve heard that name,” said John.
Check out this map with the misshapen triangle. It’s a section of south Augusta near Apple Valley.
At the heart of this map is Neptune Drive and the area is known as…ta-da! Neco.
That’s right Neco.
“How long have you been here, you just moved?” I asked.
“No no, I’ve been here 19 years,” said Corine
“19 years you don’t know Neco.”
“No I don’t know Neco.:”
“Is it Neco?” I asked.
“I have no idea. I’ve never heard of it,” said John.
But Arthur LaFavor says he doesn’t have to look up anything he says he knows Neco.
“This area here,” said Arthur.
“You knew that or did I tell you?” I asked.
“You told me.”
“You did not know.”
So next time you need to be in this part of Augusta just ask someone how to get to Neco.
“Take a net to Neco,” said Corine.
Neco, so now you know.
