AUGUSTA,Ga (WJBF) Some Augusta neighborhood groups are not down with city garbage rates going up.
A proposal in the 2017 budget would increase garbage rates by five percent raising the annual fee from 301 dollars to 3:26.
That has the president of the Rollins area Neighborhood Association speaking out saying that hurts those on a fixed income.
“We’re already paying a premium price for 50 percent less service then we used to have my particular association which is an older neighborhood has a lot of elderly and senior members in it who keep absorbing and absorbing costs and wonder how they’re going to continue to absorb it,” said Juanita Burney, President of the Rollins Area Neighborhood Association.
The garbage fee increase and other issues are scheduled for discussion at a commission budget work session on Thursday.
