AUGUSTA (WJBF) – One person is dead after a shooting at a gas station and a suspect is in custody.
The coroner says just before 11:00 p.m. Monday night, 52-year-old Jenefer Herron was shot at least once.
It happened at the Circle K located at 1739 Walton Way.
NewsChannel 6 was told Herron got into an argument with the suspect before she was shot.
She was taken to the hospital where she died.
The suspect has been identified as 33-year-old Yelena Buckner of Augusta.
Buckner has been arrested and charged with Murder and Possession of a Firearm during the Commission of a Crime.
No word on what the two were arguing about prior to the shooting.
This marks Richmond County’s 11th homicide, and fourth over the last week.
