Columbia, SC – South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson has announced the arrest of a North Augusta man on a child pornography charge.
Aaron Jacob Heffner, has been charged with on one (1) count involving the Sexual Exploitation of Minors.
The Aiken County Sheriff’s Office, a member of the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force, made the arrest. Assistance was provided by the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED), also a member of the ICAC Task Force.
Investigators received a cyber tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, indicating Heffner had uploaded material containing child pornography to a data storage site.
A search warrant was obtained and executed at Heffner’s residence on July 10th. Computers and other electronic equipment were seized for forensic examination. Heffner was arrested and charged with one (1) count of Sexual Exploitation of a Minor, third degree, which is a felony offense punishable by up to ten (10) years imprisonment on each count.
The case will be prosecuted by the South Carolina Attorney General’s Office.
Wilson stressed all defendants are presumed innocent unless and until they are proven guilty in a court of law.
