CAYCE, S.C. (WJBF) – SCE&G has announced plans for solar energy production facilities to be constructed this year, with two located in the CSRA.

Construction will begin in the next few months on facilities in Barnwell, Allendale, Calhoun, Lexington, and Saluda counties.

The facilities will add a combined 36 megawatts of solar power to SCE&G’s system by the end of the year. Here’s a complete listing of the planned facilities:

·         A 5.44 megawatt (MW) facility in Barnwell to be developed and operated by Barnwell Solar, LLC along with financing partner Cypress Creek Renewables

·         A 4.08 MW facility in Calhoun County to be developed and operated by Cameron Solar II, LLC along with financing partner Cypress Creek Renewables

·         An 8.16 MW facility in Allendale to be developed and operated by Haley Solar, LLC along with financing partner Cypress Creek Renewables

·         An 8.16 MW facility in Pelion to be developed and operated by Odyssey Solar, LLC along with financing partner Cypress Creek Renewables

·         A 6.8 MW facility in Saluda to be developed and operated by Saluda Solar I, LLC along with financing partner Cypress Creek Renewables

·         A 3.4 MW facility in Saluda to be developed and operated by Saluda Solar II, LLC along with financing partner Cypress Creek Renewables

SCE&G says the new solar facilities will produce approximately 82,000,000 kilowatt hours of electricity per year, enough energy to serve about 7,500 homes for a year.
