Augusta, GA (WJBF) – It’s a new look for a new year on the campus of Augusta University.

Thursday, the school revealed two new looks, one official logo for the University and the new logo for Augusta University Athletics.

School officials and students tell us they are excited about the new Augusta University Logo.

The community really has saved the “A”, as you can see the letter “A” in the bell tower design of the logo, which will be used across campus. On the Athletics logos, the victory “A” and the Jaguar both look more aggressive than the older GRU logos.

President Brooks Keel addressed the new look Thursday, saying the roll-out is all about bringing the community together. In a message on the Augusta University website, Keel says the new branding campaign, “is one that evokes pride and passion and one that will sustain our great organization for centuries to come.”

The new brand reveal and logo unveiling follows the announcement that President Keel has asked the Georgia Board of Regents and the Georgia Regents Health System Board to change the name of the school’s medial facilities from Georgia Regents Health System to AU Health. You can read more about this announcement here and student reaction to the health center name change, here. Augusta University will reveal more about the health center’s name change in an event to be held on February 4th.

On Wednesday, Dr. Keel announced new names for all of Augusta University’s clinical entities, except for Children’s Hospital of Georgia, in order to reflect the school’s name change from Georgia Regents University.

To help celebrate launch the new Augusta University brand, 1,000 brand starter kits will be delivered to offices and departments throughout the school’s campuses. Faculty, staff, and students are being invited to stop by two “Swag Stations” located on the campuses to pick up some “swag” and trade in an old T-shirt for a new branded one.
