Mercedes Benz of Augusta helping those in need in Texas

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WJBF) – Mercedes Benz of Augusta is doing it’s part to help victims of Hurricane Harvey.

Starting Thursday morning, the dealership will be collecting canned food, bottled water and clothing for victims on the catastrophic flooding.

Two employees, Joe and Gary, will be personally delivering the items to Texas next week in the company’s Sprinter van.

“They’re not just people out there in Texas that are hurt, but they are also our colleagues and coworkers. Group one who is our parent company is based out of Texas,” said Sales Manager Joe Adams. “So it wasn’t a decision it’s just something that needed to be done, and thankfully we’ve got the man power and the support to really rise, a war cry, to help those who can’t help themselves.”

Anyone that makes a donation will get a 5 percent discount on services or $500 off the purchase of a new or used vehicle.

Donations will be accepted Monday to Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.Count on WJBF NewsChannel 6 to bring you the latest on this developing story.
