Man convicted of killing Ft. Gordon officer to receive new trial


RICHMOND COUNTY, Ga. (WJBF) – A Georgia man serving a life sentence for Murder is getting a new trial.

Erik Williams was convicted for shooting and killing Sergent Deangelo Hudgins back in July 2010, but Williams claims he shot Hudgins and another man in self defense.

The Georgia Supreme Court reviewed the case, and says some evidence was improperly admitted during trial.

No new trial date has been set.
