Libertarian candidate for U.S. Senate Allen Buckley shares concerns over national debt

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WJBF) – Libertarian candidate for U.S. Senate going up against incumbent Johnny Isakson and Democrat Jim Barksdale spoke with NewsChannel 6 Monday about his concerns over a ballooning national debt.

The candidate, Allen Buckley, is an Atlanta-area attorney and accountant.

He says if government spending and entitlements aren’t reigned in, the national debt will ultimately spiral out of control.

“Now what does debt spiraling out of control mean? Well since that statement was made nine years ago, total federal debt has more than doubled,” Buckley said. “It was less than $9 trillion then, now it’s over $19 trillion. And there’s a lot of people who are financial experts, inside and outside the federal government, who will tell you that we are headed for a financial catastrophe,” he said.

Buckley also ran for senate in 2004 and 2008, when he pushed former U.S. Senator Saxby Chambliss into a run-off.
