BURKE COUNTY, Ga. (WJBF) – Burke County investigators and the GBI are working to identify human remains found near Briar Creek Bridge.
Officers were called to the 4700 block of Story Mill Road in reference to the remains on Sunday around 1:30 p.m.
Two fishermen told officers that they found the remains near the bank of the creek.
The skull and bones found were then sent to the GBI Crime Lab for DNA testing.
The investigation is in the early stages.
