GEORGIA (WJBF) — Hollywood celebrities are voicing their opposition to the so-called Heartbeat Abortion Bill in Georgia.
Actress Alyssa Milano penned a letter to Governor Brian Kemp and Georgia House Speaker David Ralston about the “Living Infants Fairness and Equality Act.“ In it, she threatens a boycott of the state if the bill becomes law. Dozens of celebrities signed the letter in support.
The controversial legislation would ban abortions in the state after a doctor detects a fetal heartbeat. This can occur as early as six weeks into a pregnancy.
The state house passed the bill Friday, March 29.
Governor Brian Kemp tweeted his support for the legislation after the vote. It heads to his desk for final approval.
Georgia is a popular destination for film and television productions.
