Greene Street Grocery liquor license denied

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WJBF) – No beer and wine will be sold at a new downtown Augusta grocery store.

Greene Street Grocery will be located on the bottom floor of Maxwell House Apartments on Greene Street.

The owner’s request for a beer and wine license was rejected this week by Augusta commissioners.

City leaders say the reason is because at least 50 residents at the complex have been involved in substance abuse programs.
