Former Augusta Fire Chief Dies

A former Augusta Fire Chief is dead after a heart attack.

The Augusta Fire Department confirms with WJBF News Channel 6, Chief Howard “Bubba Willis” died Sunday afternoon.  Chief Willis was 66 years old worked with the Fire Department for 37 years before retiring in 2011. The Augusta Fire Department says his dedication to the department and leadership will never be forgotten.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, June 24, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with Rev. Jerry Pitman officiating. Burial will follow in Westover Memorial Park.
