Florida man lured to his death through online dating site


AUBURNDALE, Fla. (WFLA) – An online dating connection turned deadly for an Auburndale man Friday night. Auburndale Police found 27-year-old Adam Hilarie shot to death in his apartment on Sunset Avenue.

According to police Hilarie met 18-year-old Haliey Rose Bustos on the on-line dating site ‘Plenty of Fish’ and they went on a date on Thursday evening. After he dropped her off, Bustos conspired with three others and returned to his apartment Friday to rob Hilarie, which ultimately led to his murder.

Auburndale police detectives have charged and arrested Haliey Rose Bustos, 18, of Auburndale, Andre Warner, 26, Auburndale, Gary Terrell Gray, 31, Lakeland, and Joshua Ellington, 26, Lake Alfred.

Auburndale Police detectives believe Bustos went on the online dating site and met Hilarie with the intent of setting him up for the robbery.

Charges include Conspiracy to Commit Robbery, Robbery with a Firearm/Deadly Weapon, First Degree Murder and Violation of Probation.
