ABBEVILLE, S.C. (Index-Journal/WSPA) – A teen has been arrested in connection to a church break-in where tombs were disturbed, Index-Journal reports.

17-year-old Aaron Michael Reyes was arrested Monday and charged with desecration of a human burial ground, destruction or removal of human remains, malicious injury to a place of worship and second-degree burglary, Index-Journal says.

After receiving a complaint about a Facebook picture, a deputy with the Abbeville County Sheriff’s Office found several photos of a group of people standing inside Ridge Church on Ridge Road in Iva.

One of the Facebook pictures included a man standing in an above-ground tomb, according to a report.

The report also states that the Sheriff’s Office found several tombs in the church had been disturbed, and that a pew and Christmas tree had been damaged.

Captain Natalie Talbert with the Sheriff’s Office says the church has been broken into several times in the past year.

Capt. Talbert stated that the Sheriff’s Office is investigating to see if the previous break-in’s are related.
