Two former DJJ officers are facing felony charges after allegedly smuggling contraband into the YDC.

Chiquita Owlsey and Ashley Mathis are charged with secretly taking cell phones in restricted areas of the Augusta YDC.

A spokesperson for the Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice says personal cell phones are banned from secure DJJ facilities, and that knowingly bringing them into one of those facilities is a violation of state law.
