Suspects sought in shooting at Forest Ridge Apartments

Crime News

The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office is looking for two suspects involved in a shooting that they say happened at the Forest Ridge Apartments. The complex is located off Mike Padgett Hwy on Apple Valley Dr.

Deputies tell us the incident happened around 9:40A on Wednesday. The victim was shot in the head and taken to Augusta University Medical Center for treatment of what was described as “life-threatening injuries.”

Investigators are looking for two suspects. They tell us they are both black males. One of the men is described as light-skinned and was last seen wearing a multi-colored shirt.

We spoke with one of the victim’s family members. She did not want to give us too much information about herself, partially out of fear of the two suspects. She tells NewsChannel 6 that something needs to be done about the Forest Ridge Apartment complex.

“They are not safe,” she says. “There’s always something going on here in these apartments. They need to do a better check of who they let move in these apartments. You know, you got elderly people living over here. These apartments look like they’re for gang bangers. They need to clean it up.”

The sheriff’s office hopes to have a vehicle description and more information about the suspects to send out soon.
