SPARTANBURG CO., SC (WSPA) – A student at R.P. Dawkins Middle School was charged after deputies say he threatened to “shoot up” the school.
According to the incident report from the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office, the student was heard on the bus Friday telling another student that he was a school shooter and that he would shoot up the school.
The report says the school’s principal called the sheriff’s office about the threat Monday morning after which deputies arrived and found that the student did not have any weapons or access to any weapons.
In the report, deputies say the student claimed that what he said was part of a game on his phone.
The 14-year-old student was charged with Threatening the School with Violence, according to the report.
