A Richmond County deputy has been arrested and is facing domestic abuse charges.
The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office says that Deputy Jason McCall was arrested at his home in Columbia County.
He’s been booked on charges of Battery, Aggravated Assault and Cruelty to Children in the 3rd Degree.
According to an incident report, deputies say McCall and his wife got into a verbal altercation that turned physical.
In the report, his wife states that they began arguing about her texting her friends. She said he then left the home to drink at several bars.
When he returned, he was reportedly highly intoxicated. That’s when the physical altercation took place, according to the report.
Investigators say the observed bruising on his wife’s right cheek and chin.
Dep. McCall has been employed by the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office for 6 years and has most recently been working in the Field Operations Division.
He has since been placed on administrative leave pending an Internal Affairs investigation.
