Identity of victim in shooting on Thurmond Street in North Augusta released

NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. (WJBF)- The victim from Friday morning’s shooting in North Augusta has been identified.

Aiken County Coroner Darryl Ables has identified the victim as Gary Pixley.

Mr. Pixley sustained at least one gunshot wound to the body and will be autopsied Monday morning in Newberry, SC.

The incident happened at a home on the 1100 block of Thurmond Street in North Augusta.

The North Augusta Department of Public Safety is continuing with the investigation.

NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. (WJBF) – One person is dead after a shooting at a home in North Augusta.

The incident happened around 10:30 a.m. on the 1100 block of Thurmond Street. North Augusta Public Safety responded to the scene.

Upon arrival, officers found a man lying on the floor. The officers spoke with 24-year-old Dallan Thorstenson who made the 911 call. He said he shot the intruder in self-defense.

Upon further investigation, between witness accounts and conflicting evidence investigators determined Thorstenson’s claims could not be supported. He was arrested and charged with murder.
