UPDATE: The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that the suspect taken into custody Friday was a teenager wanted in connection with a deadly shooting at a Circle K in Augusta.
According to Aiken County Sheriff’s Office and Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, the suspect was wanted on a Richmond County murder warrant.
That incident happened earlier in October at the Circle K located at 2822 Peach Orchard Road.
Richmond County Coroner Mark Bowen previously identified the victim in that shooting as 29-year-old Nathaniel Mack of Augusta.

AIKEN COUNTY, S.C. (WJBF) — A deputy received minor injuries in an incident Friday afternoon off Storm Branch Road in Beech Island.
Aiken County Sheriff’s Office tells WJBF NewsChannel 6 that they were assisting Richmond County Sheriff’s Office in the search. According to ACSO Capt. Eric Abdullah, there were shots fired and one deputy received minor injuries during the gunfire.
SLED has been called in to lead the investigation. Deputies were in the process of serving an arrest warrant.
The suspect is in custody, according to Aiken County Sheriff’s Office.
