AUGUSTA, Ga. (WJBF) – Former Richmond County Commissioner Sammie Sias has filed a third appeal in his ongoing legal battle.
Less than 2 months ago, in August 2023, Sias was booked into a medium-security prison in Williamsburg County, South Carolina, where he was expected to serve his 3-year sentence.
Sias was convicted for destroying documents and lying to investigators back in July 2022. Since that conviction, he has requested a new trial, which was denied, and filed for appeals.
