False Imprisonment Charges Against CSRA Attorney, State Senate Candidate Dismissed

Crime News

AUGUSTA, Ga. – Charges of False Imprisonment against a local attorney have been dismissed.

Wright McLeod, who is currently running for Georgia State House of Representatives District 123, was arrested back in February. According to a former employee of the Augusta Warrior Project, Janice Jamison, accused McLeod and the organization’s director of staff, Amy Palowitch, or holding her captive after she was fired.

A special prosecutor looking into the case against McLeod says the state can not prove its case, so the charges are being dismissed. District Attorney Dennis Sanders says the facts show Jamison was free to leave at the time of the incident and there is insufficient evidence to convict Palowitch and McLeod.
