Commissioner wants new task force to cleanup

News

AUGUSTA,Ga (WJBF) An Augusta commissioner wants to take action by cleaning up illegal dumping.

Piles of trash  in the Wrightsboro Road area near downtown are  prompting Marion Williams to create what he’s calling an “Abandoned Property Task Force.”

But Williams says this is not going to be a committee but rather he wants to recruit volunteers from area churches to work with city departments to clean it up.

The preachers the pastors are ready to get some of their members and come together and try to clean up around their area hopefully the city will come in and do their part as well we’re not talking about a group sitting around and talking about it we’re going to put hands on and try and do some stuff.

Commissioners are scheduled to discuss Williams proposal at their meeting on Tuesday.
