OMAHA, Neb. (AP) – The opening game of the College World Series championship series is tonight in Omaha, Nebraska. The last two teams standing are Arizona and Coastal Carolina. The Wildcats of Arizona are 48-22 and come out of the Pac-12 while the Chanticleers of Coastal are out of the Big South and sport a record of 53-17. They are playing in their first World Series. Coastal Carolina is coached by former USC Aiken head coach Gary Gilmore.

Each school had to go through demanding regionals and super regionals on the road to make the World Series, and each had to come back from an early loss to win three straight in bracket play and reach the best-of-three finals which starts this evening.

Game 2 will be played Tuesday night, with Game 3, if needed, Wednesday night.
