Aiken, SC (WJBF) — Clemson rising junior and South Carolina native Austin Langdale is only 20 years old, but he has plenty of experience playing tournaments at Palmetto Golf Club. This year’s Palmetto Amateur is the 10th tournament he’s participated in at the course.

Langdale entered Friday one shot back of the lead, but after shooting one-under par, he owns a three-stroke lead heading into Saturday’s final round. He says his experience at Palmetto is a big reason for his success.

“Course knowledge on this golf course is everything,” Langdale said. “Knowing my way around this golf course is huge. I’ve won the Southern Cross and I’ve won the college tournament, so this is the only one I haven’t won here, so I’m trying to do that to complete the triple crown I guess.”

The Palmetto Amateur tournament concludes Saturday afternoon.
