Canopy from crashed F-16 found in Jefferson County

WJBF Staff - LOUISVILLE, Ga. (WJBF) - A canopy from one of two crashed F-16 jets has been found in Jefferson County.

Investigators say that a hunter discovered the canopy in the woods.

The piece will now go to Joint McEntire National Guard Base.

The two aircraft collided back in June of 2016.

Both pilots ejected safely after a mid-air collision while performing routine night-flying operations.
