TOWNVILLE, S.C. (AP) – Officials say a 6-year-old is in critical condition after being shot in the leg at Townville Elementary, Wednesday.

6-year-old Jacob Hall was taken to the Greenville Memorial Hospital after the shooting.

Hall’s parents released a statement Wednesday evening through the hospital thanking the community for their support and prayers.

“We appreciate the community’s support, especially the Townville Rescue Squad who treated Jacob onsite and brought him to the hospital,” said Rodger and Renae Hall, “We appreciate everyone’s thoughts and prayers and ask for privacy during this difficult time.”

The hospital expects to have an update on Jacob’s condition Thursday morning. If you would like to help, you can find the GoFundMe page here.

Another student and a teacher were shot; they were released from the hospital.

A 14-year-old boy is accused of those shootings after killing his father at home.

An autopsy is planned for the father, Jeffrey Osborne, on Thursday. Jeffrey was found dead at the family’s home on Osborne Road, just a few miles from Townville Elementary.

The teen is now in custody, waiting on a family court hearing on Friday.

Anderson County Sheriff John Skipper says firefighter Jamie Brock “just took him down” after responding to the shooting. Brock is a 30-year veteran of the Townville Volunteer Fire Department just down the road from the school and arrived before other officers responding to a 911 call from the school.

Deputies arrived minutes later.

Authorities say they don’t yet know a motive for the shooting and they weren’t sure if the students and teacher were targeted.

Townville Elementary School will be closed for the rest of the week. The district and sheriff’s office says they’ll need that long to wrap up their investigation into the crime scene.

All other schools in the county will be operating on a normal schedule, but officials say they will have a beefed up security presence.

There will also be law enforcement officers at all elementary schools in Oconee County because of the shooting in Townville.
